Je ne regrette rien!
I had a perfectly wonderful time in PARIS! Je ne regrette rien! Lay it all out over 3 days, and you have one tired puppy (puppy = me).
Day 1
Check into my hostel, The 3 Ducks. Go straight to Versailles...all I have to say is that Loius was clearly insane to dream up the Chateau,
and bless those people who actually had to build the thing! That is one
big palace, with a huge garden, and I wish I could afford to live
there. Although I must say it is rather large, and I bet there would
be a lot of creepy creaking at night, and there's probably a lot of
bad vibes considering all the craziness that went down with Marie
(being executed by way of guillotine) floating around there...so maybe
I'll pass, find myself a sugar daddy, and have him build me a new Versailles!
After
getting back into the city I marched up the Eiffel tower...now, to
those of you haven't been in Paris during recent times...let me just
tell you, that all over the city...immediately coming out of the train
station, you start to notice a strange presence that's just all
over...what is it!? MEN IN MILITARY GET UP CARRYING AROUND REALLY
SERIOUS AUTOMATIC WEAPONRY! what the heck!? If I actually knew what
the guns they had were, I'd probably be a lot more scared, because they
were really intense! Anyways...passing through the 5 men with scary big
guns...I walked up the tower, and it was lovely...windy, but lovely. I
had the most delightful scoop of Ben and Jerry's that I've ever had at
the top, oh Cookie Dough, you make it all worth it!
Hopped off
the tower, and went towards that big tomb thing memorial to watch the
sparkle lights on the tower come on, got a crepe and went on to the Arc de Triomphe
...sorry if I misspelled that. That traffic circle is intense...and
Napoleon was crazy (trend with the ruling class in France), that's what I learned from that visit. I'd say that
was a successful enough day, I didn't even freakin get back to my hostel till past 1 am...and I didn't even have the energy to go out, TIRED! Paris is TOO big!
Day 2
The Louvre. OH. MY. GOODNESS! Why is the Louvre so big!? Why!? Now that I'm well versed in everyone's
history, I feel complete. 3 floors, 3 wings. HOT DOG! Not much to say,
except that there are way too many french paintings in that place...I
know french do a good job with all the art and everything...but
jeez...there was a lot, AND sculpture...after getting asked out by
employees in front of Mona (got the kiss on the hand too! oh
french...that was the one I had a coffee with later) and in the Dutch
painting wing (they obviously don't have the "no fraternizing with
visitors" policy) I went over to the Picasso Museum...interesting as
usual.
Day 3
Last day. Feeling good, feeling strong. Orsay is tops on the list. It was good...after awesome Van Gogh,
a lot of Manet, Monet, Renoir, a cool Art Deco wing, awesome
restaurant, etc...I was done with that and went over to wander through Montmarte...the Basilica, the Cemetery (got a picture with Dumas), parks, and the Moulin Rouge completed that visit and it was a good one.
Conclusion.
In Paris, I walked more than I can say, and had myself a blasty blast.
